Plus once you can play IIDX you can play anything. I believe all of them support USB/PS2 out of the box, though I don't know if they all natively support Infinitas (I have their Phoenixwan controller which does.)Įnjoy IIDX! It's a timeless music game, its charting is super dynamic and can feel super different from song to song or era to era. The controller producer I'm most familiar with is Gamo2 (also called DJ Dao.) They've been around forever and are known for making solid arcade style controllers. You'll need a PS2-compatible controller for this, of course, which can be an original Konami controller from back then or a newer arcade style one. If you're from the US there's a US release that isn't very good (just called "beatmania") but if you can either mod your system or get one of those memory cards with an open bootloader you can play Japanese versions. The subscription evens out to around ~$15 USD per month, but be aware that it pays for a calendar month, so if you subscribe on the last day of a month you'll get one day.īMS is probably the easiest way to have access to a lot of songs, though I've never done BMS so I don't know anything about where to get songpacks or other resources.Īnother option is sourcing PS2 versions. You can buy the subscription with Paseli on your Konami account, I can look for a guide if you want to try that. These days it's much easier to get though, Konami very recently opened up their Paseli web-cash to international cards, officially making it unofficially available. Infinitas is only "officially" released in Japan. The default songlist is pretty nice (or maybe that's my nostalgic ass still liking all the songs I played on old CS versions in high school) and certainly has a good amount of music to last for a while. In my case I live close enough to a Round1 (united states player) for arcade play so I use it to play during the week and go to the arcade on weekends. What I don't like is that the song expansion packs are expensive, and don't seem to fit the subscription game model very well. The subscription model is OK but not great, but it's official software and it works well. Personally I use the subscription game, "IIDX Infinitas," to play at home.
